Julius Randle, Knicks struggle in wire-to-wire blowout Game 3 loss to Jimmy Butler, Heat

Published Tue, 18 Feb 2025 21:50:12 GMT

MIAMI — Jimmy Butler returned and the Knicks just folded.Saving a terrible time to produce one of their most anemic offensive performances, New York was crushed Saturday afternoon by the Heat, 105-86, falling to a 2-1 series deficit.Butler was a difference maker with a game-high 28 points while appearing to reinjure his sprained ankle in the third quarter. But he wasn’t the Knicks’ biggest problem Saturday. They mostly have themselves to blame for the belly flop in Biscayne Bay.The Knicks, trailing wire-to-wire, shot just 34 percent overall while missing (shield your eyes, children) 32 of their 40 3-point attempts. The misfiring was widespread.Julius Randle, moving at ¾ speed through his abysmal 38 minutes, scored just 10 points on 4 of 15 shooting. Jalen Brunson missed all five of his 3-pointers.The Knicks bench, an issue since the start of the series, was again ineffective, with Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin and Quentin Grimes combining to miss 12 of their 16...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — As the horses were loaded into the starting gate, Tedi Dietrich whispered a prayer.“Lord, let the horses get all the way around safe,” Dietrich said, watching the race Saturday on a giant screen erected amid the party in Churchill Downs’ courtyard.News had just broken that a sixth horse had died in the days and hours leading into the Derby. A seventh horse died later in the day.But here, in every direction, Derby-goers in fancy dresses and seersucker suits posed for selfies, fluffed the feathers in their hats and sipped mint juleps. It was a jarring contrast to reports of yet another horse being loaded into an equine ambulance in the stable area, just on the opposite side of the racetrack. All Dietrich could think to do was say a prayer before each race that day, and then keep enjoying the famous festivities.“People come for the party, for the experience,” Dietrich said. “Look around, look at all this enthusiasm. I think a lot of people aren’t following the new...

AUSTIN (KXAN) - After suffering a loss in the series opener against Kansas Friday evening, the Texas baseball team bounced back with an impressive 6-2 victory Saturday to even the series. The Longhorns have been searching for consistency in the starting rotation behind regular Friday starter Lucas Gordon and got a major boost in Saturday's win. Lebarron Johnson Jr. returned to starting after a number of strong outings of the bullpen and made the Texas coaching staff look awful smart for the decision.Johnson went seven strong innings allowing just one run while striking out 12 Jayhawks. That is the redshirt sophomore's third straight outing where he's gone at least five innings and allowed one or zero runs.Coming in after Johnson Jr. was Ace Whitehead who held Kansas scoreless in the eighth before allowing an earned run in the ninth.
