A 30-year-old man was convicted by a jury for second-degree murder and armed robbery in the 2019 death and robbery of his ex-girlfriend’s friend in Germantown, Maryland.Prosecutors said the incident happened in September 2019 when Kyle Noble attacked 31-year-old Efrain Arias, as Arias exited a vehicle in the parking lot of an Extended Stay America hotel in Germantown.Noble chased Arias down a hill into a field close to the parking lot, where he fatally stabbed and robbed him, according to prosecutors.“The attack was fueled by drug-seeking behavior and a jealous rage, as the victim was a friend of the defendant’s ex-girlfriend,” prosecutors said during the trial. This case was first tried in September 2022, but concluded in a hung jury. Prosecutors said that Noble did this crime while on probation for an April 2017 stabbing in Frederick County. Noble also pleaded guilty to a March 2014 robbery in Montgomery County.“This is a situation where it took a numb...Dodig, Krajicek win French Open men’s doubles title, a year after squandering match points in final

PARIS (AP) — A year after squandering three match points in the final, fourth-seeded Ivan Dodig of Croatia and Austin Krajicek of the United States won the men’s doubles title at the French Open on Saturday by beating unseeded Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 6-4, 6-1.Unlike last year’s tension-filled final, this one was never in doubt as the Croat-American duo broke the Belgians four times, saved all three break points they faced and wrapped up the win in 1 hour, 20 minutes. It was the 38-year-old Dodig’s third major title in men’s doubles, after winning here in 2015 and at the Australian Open in 2021 — with different partners. But it was a first Grand Slam trophy for the 32-year-old Krajicek, a former top-100 ranked singles player.Gille and Vliegen were playing together in their first major final.Last year, Dodig and Krajicek lost to Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer after having three championship points in the second set.___AP tennis: https://apnews.com/hub...Where, when and how Novak Djokovic won each of his 22 Grand Slam titles

Suffice it to say, Steve Cohen feels little consolation over dodging a $185 million bullet with Jacob deGrom needing Tommy John surgery. The bleak deGrom news out of Texas was announced Tuesday, but three days later Cohen’s $345 million Mets had been swept by the Braves in Atlanta and began the weekend three games under .500 in fourth place in the National League East.Naturally, the talk radio yahoos are screaming for Cohen to start shaking things up at Citi Field, but while mistakes and miscalculations have been made, fault for this pratfall in Queens lies other than in the manager’s office. For it’s not Buck Showalter’s fault that Daniel Vogelbach has been an absolute bust as the primary DH, and it’s not his fault that Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander, his twin $40-plus million supposed aces, gave up 10 runs in a combined 8 2/3 innings against the Braves, and it’s certainly not his fault that Pete Alonso got hit on the wrist with an errant Charl...Column: Chicago Bears need the Justin Fields fireworks shows to continue. But as a runner, he needs to be more selective.

On his way to a record-breaking 2022 season, one in which he rushed for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns while creating a YouTube amusement park, Justin Fields made it perfectly clear. Those rushing exploits were fun and all. But his elevator to stardom as an NFL quarterback must be powered by his growth as a passer.Sure, Fields acknowledged a slight bit of disappointment in finishing 63 yards shy of Lamar Jackson’s single-season rushing record for a quarterback. “Of course,” he said the day after the Bears’ last-place season ended. “But that’s a rushing record. And I’m a quarterback. That would’ve been cool to have. But I’m not really into records like that. If there was one record I’d like to break, it’d be a passing record.“We’ll see if we can get that done in the near future.”Fields will get no arguments from his coaches, who day by day, practice by practice, meeting by meeting continue pushing h...Latest news
