Interstate 70 and U.S. 6 will likely be closed in both directions overnight following a head-on collision that sparked a wildfire east of Eagle today.Drivers should plan to use a northern alternative route that adds 2.5 hours of travel time by detouring through Silverthorne, U.S. 40, Craig and Rifle, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.The 5- to 7-acre Eagle River fire is causing heavy smoke on the interstate and could spread quickly due to weather conditions, according to CDOT. Two people had to be rescued Thursday afternoon after getting trapped inside a cave along the Palos Verdes Peninsula.Authorities responded to the Terranea Cave, next to Terranea Resort, around 1 p.m. where two adults had entered the cave and found themselves trapped by the rising tide, officials said.It was not immediately known how the couple entered the cave, or how long they had been trapped.Fire crews and Los Angeles County lifeguards responded, along with Cabrillo Baywatch.Sky5 footage shows a woman being rescued from a cave along the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Sept. 7, 2023. A pursuit suspect died Thursday afternoon after they drove off a cliff while evading law enforcement in Azusa. The crash happened along in the Angeles Forest in the hills above Azusa near Morris Reservoir.The incident began when Azusa police were called for a welfare check at an undisclosed location. At some point, that welfare check evolved into a short pursuit. Police said the driver of the involved vehicle went off a cliff near Highway 39 and Glendora Mountain Road. One Pronounced Dead after Multi-Car Collision near Twitchell ReservoirSAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA (September 7, 2023) – Monday afternoon, one victim was pronounced dead after a wrong-way accident on Highway 166.The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m., near Alamo Creek Road just north of Twitchell Reservoir.Per reports, the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was heading east and attempted to pass traffic by using the westbound lanes.
