ATLANTA — Take a look at the leaderboard of how often all 30 MLB teams record balls in play at 110 mph or harder. Now scroll, and scroll, and scroll. Past the Mets and the Padres and the Dodgers. Keep going, beyond the Royals, the Rockies and the A’s.In 29th place: the San Francisco Giants.Heliot Ramos’ home run last Saturday was their 21st such event of the year, fewer than any team but the Washington Nationals.Simply put, the Giants don’t hit the ball very hard.As for how much that matters, and its correlation to MLB’s worst offense for going on two months, it depends who you ask.“Always,” manager Gabe Kapler said. But, hitting coach Justin Viele said, “we’re not chasing it.”Six games in the next 10 days against the Atlanta Braves will provide somewhat of a test case.Eleven players around the league have hit more balls at 110-plus mph than the Giants have as a team, and two of them — Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson — populate Atlanta&...Deputies find incendiary device in Saratoga

When conspiracy theorist Alex Jones marched his way to the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, riling up his legion of supporters, an unassuming middle-aged man in a red “Trump 2020” hat conspicuously tagged along.Videos and photographs reviewed by CNN show the man dutifully recording Jones with his phone as the bombastic media personality ascended to the restricted area of the Capitol grounds where mobs of then-President Donald Trump’s supporters eventually broke in.While the man’s actions outside the Capitol that day have drawn little scrutiny, his alleged connections to a plot to overthrow the 2020 election have recently come into sharp focus: He is attorney Kenneth Chesebro, the alleged architect of the scheme to subvert the 2020 Electoral College process by using fake GOP electors in multiple states. When asked by the House select committee where he was the first week of January 2021 and on January 6, Chesebro invoked his Fifth Amendment rights.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The ball settled into Calvin Austin’s hands with nothing but green grass in front of him. As he raced down the sideline toward the end zone, all of the doubts, all of the pain, all of the worry vanished. His feet are still fast. The speed that made the Steelers take him in the fourth round of the 2022 draft is still there. And the future once again is bright. When Austin crossed the goal line for the first time at the end of a pretty 67-yard catch-and-run against Tampa Bay last week, he exhaled. Technically, it was 666 days between his 69-yard sprint on a reverse in Memphis’ win over Navy on Oct. 14, 2021, and his cathartic race to the end zone in Pittsburgh’s preseason-opening win over the Buccaneers on Aug. 11.To Austin, however, it felt like “forever.” Maybe because in a way it was, at least in a football sense.Austin impressed almost immediately during his first training camp a year ago before sustaining a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, endin...Declaran culpable de los asesinatos de siete bebés a una enfermera británica
